You arrive, you settle in, and the session follows your pace — slow where you need it slow, playful where you feel like laughing, quiet where you want something tender and still.

Most mothers come with a partner, and many bring an older child along. Both are welcome in the frame. A hand resting on the bump, a forehead against a forehead, a toddler peeking around from behind — these are the pictures families return to, because they show the household as it is right before it changes. Pets are welcome too, if you let us know in advance.

What a maternity session includes

Every session starts with a conversation about what you like and what you do not. Some mothers want soft, minimal frames with clean lines and very little fuss. Others want drama — a flowing gown, a bold colour, a theme that feels like a celebration. Both directions work, and the studio keeps gowns, backdrops and props ready so you are not expected to bring a wardrobe with you. If you have a favourite outfit of your own, bring it; it often produces the most personal frame of the day.

Hair and makeup use pregnancy-safe products, and the styling is planned to flatter rather than to transform you. The aim is that you recognise yourself in every picture, just on a day when you felt looked after.

Cultural touches are easy to weave in. A laal-paar saree, alta details, or a sadh-inspired setup can sit naturally alongside a modern gown look, and many families choose one of each so the final set feels complete. Tell us what matters to you and the session bends around it.

Inside the Newtown studio

The studio sits at Unit 503, 5th Floor, The Terminus, Pride Plaza, Street No. 144, BG Block, Action Area 1B, Newtown, Kolkata 700156. Inside, the space is calm and private, with room to sit down between sets, change outfits without rushing, and take a break whenever you need one. Sessions run for about one and a half to two hours, and that time is deliberately unhurried — there is no conveyor belt of poses, and no pressure to hold a position that does not feel good.

Comfort guides every choice. Poses are adjusted to what your body allows on the day, with hydration breaks built in. If you have any medical guidance about what you should or should not do, tell us beforehand and the plan will be shaped around it. If you are unsure about posing in front of a camera, the photographer talks you through each step so you are never left guessing where to stand or what to do with your hands.

Outdoors in Kolkata, when the light is right

Studio sessions suit most mothers, but Kolkata gives you strong outdoor options if you want them. Eco Park at golden hour turns greenery and open sky into a soft, warm backdrop. Princep Ghat by the river gives long light and a sense of occasion. Victoria Memorial suits classic, composed frames, while the lanes of Kumartuli add colour and character for something unmistakably of this city. The Maidan and Rabindra Sarobar offer open greens and lakeside calm for mothers who prefer space and quiet.

Outdoor sessions depend on the weather, and the plan is simple when it turns: the session moves into the studio or moves to another day, so you never lose the booking to a cloudy sky. Home sessions are also available across Newtown, Salt Lake, Rajarhat and the rest of Kolkata if you would rather be photographed where you live.

How the session runs

It begins with an enquiry through the website, a phone call, or a visit to the studio. Before the session, you talk through themes, outfits and any ideas you have saved, so the day itself holds no surprises. On the day, you arrive, get styled, and work through the planned looks at your own pace, with breaks whenever you want them.

Edited photographs are delivered within ten to fourteen days, and all RAW photographs are included.
