A baby photoshoot works best when nobody asks the baby to perform. Sitting up for the first time, crawling towards something interesting, standing with wobbly determination, laughing at a sibling — these are the moments worth keeping, and they happen when a child feels safe, unhurried and a little bit entertained. Our Newtown studio sessions are built around play rather than instruction, so the pictures show your child’s personality instead of a stiff version of it.

Milestones are the natural spine of a baby session. Tummy time, first sits, first steps and first birthdays each look different, and each deserves its own frame. Some families come for one milestone; others return through the first year and build a series that tells the whole story of how fast it all went.

What a baby session includes

Themes and setups are chosen around your child, not the other way round. Classic portraits suit some families; a themed concept — a little chef, a tiny pilot, a favourite colour or story — suits others. Age-safe props, baskets, balloons and themed decor are ready in the studio, and themed outfits are available for specific setups. You are welcome to bring your child’s favourite clothes or a beloved toy; familiar things help a shy child relax faster than any new prop can.

Parents and siblings are part of the session whenever you want them to be. Sibling bonding pictures — a big sister holding a little brother, two toddlers conspiring over a toy — are often the frames parents print largest. Shorter mini-sessions are available for busy families who want a quick set of beautiful pictures without a long day.

Cake smash setups can be added for a first birthday, turning the session into a joyful mess that children remember through the photographs for years.

Inside the Newtown studio

The studio is at Unit 503, 5th Floor, The Terminus, Pride Plaza, Street No. 144, BG Block, Action Area 1B, Newtown, Kolkata 700156. The space is baby-proofed and hygienic, with soft props and room for a child to move, crawl and explore safely. Sessions last one to two hours, with breaks for feeding or naps built in, so a tired or hungry baby never has to push through.

Shy or fussy babies are expected, not a problem. The approach is toys, music and patience, working at your child’s pace until the smiles come naturally. If your child needs a break, the session takes one. If the weather affects an outdoor plan, the session moves into the studio instead, so the day is never lost.

Outdoors in Kolkata

When you want open air, Kolkata offers plenty of it. Eco Park gives green space and room to roam. Rabindra Sarobar suits quiet lakeside frames. The Maidan offers wide, uncluttered greens, and Princep Ghat brings river light and a sense of occasion. Garden sessions and home sessions are also possible if your child is happiest in a familiar place. The choice of location is discussed beforehand, so the setting matches your child’s mood and the pictures you have in mind. Grandparents are welcome too, and many families use a baby session to create the first proper family portrait since the baby arrived. If you have a favourite picture style — bright and airy, warm and traditional, or full of colour — mention it when you book, and the setups will lean that way.

How the session runs

A little preparation goes a long way: a well-rested, well-fed baby, favourite snacks and a favourite toy in the bag. On the day, the session starts gently, warms up through play, and moves through the planned setups as your child’s energy allows. Parents can suggest ideas, and the photographer will guide posing so parents and babies look natural rather than arranged.

Edited photographs are delivered within ten to fourteen days, and all RAW photographs are included. Digital files and optional prints, albums and framed portraits are available, so the pictures can live on a wall as well as on a phone.
